Your guide to Starlink and reliable connectivity in Uganda
Not sure which Starlink solution is right for you? DishNet provides ICT consultancy and practical guidance to help you understand your options, choose suitable equipment, navigate the acquisition process and plan your installation.
Looking for CCTV cameras or network security? That is a separate DishNet service, and you do not need Starlink for it.
About DishNet
A local ICT partner that helps you decide, then delivers
DishNet Africa Limited is an independent Ugandan company — an IT solutions provider and Starlink installer, registered in Uganda. DishNet Africa has operated since 2013: it began in South Sudan, building internet where there were no cables, no towers and often no grid power.
In Uganda, DishNet brings that experience to homes, businesses, NGOs, schools and institutions. DishNet serves more than 40 towns, from our office in Kampala to installations upcountry.
Our approach starts with your requirements, not a product: who will use the connection, where, on what power, and what it has to support. We explain your Starlink options in plain language, plan the installation, and stay with you afterwards — and if Starlink is not the right fit for you, we will tell you honestly.

Managed DishNet Starlink plans
Our own managed service: your contract is with DishNet, and the Starlink account that serves your kit is registered and managed by DishNet on your behalf. One local bill, one team. How it compares.
Subject to applicable requirements, including Starlink's terms. A DishNet service, not a Starlink product.

Acquiring Starlink
Two ways to get Starlink with DishNet
In your own name, with our guidance — or as a managed DishNet plan. We explain both in your free consultation, before you decide.
Option 1
Register in your own name, with our help
You hold the Starlink account yourself. We help you choose, prepare and complete the registration, and install and support the equipment.
Your contract
Your Starlink account is yours, under Starlink's own terms.
Registration
You register with Starlink in your own name; we help you understand and navigate each step.
Approval
Starlink controls registration approval, KYC verification and activation. No approval is promised.
Your subscription
Under Starlink's own terms, plans and prices.
From DishNet
Advice, registration guidance, installation and local support, confirmed in your written quotation.
Option 2 · DishNet service
A managed DishNet Starlink plan
DishNet's own managed service, for customers who prefer one local provider for the service, the bill and the support.
Your contract
With DishNet, not with Starlink, under DishNet's terms.
Registration
The Starlink account that serves your kit is registered and managed by DishNet on your behalf.
Approval
Subject to applicable requirements, including Starlink's terms. Confirmed with you before you commit.
Your bill
One local DishNet bill, payable by Airtel Money, bank transfer or cash.
From DishNet
Installation, warranty handling and support from one team. You can ask us to transfer the account to you, under Starlink's rules.
A DishNet plan is a DishNet service, provided under DishNet's own terms. It is not a Starlink product.
If your own-name registration is restricted
We do not automatically offer — or refuse — a managed DishNet plan. We review each case individually, subject to Starlink's terms, requirements and approvals, and tell you honestly what is possible.
We will never help anyone bypass verification, registration restrictions or eligibility checks.
Any minimum period, fee and processing time for an account transfer is confirmed to you in writing first. See our Terms of Service.
How it works
Five steps from enquiry to connection
A clear process, so you always know what happens next — and who decides what.
1
Tell us your connectivity requirements
Your location, the number of users, your power and what the connection has to support.
2
Your free consultation with a DishNet ICT adviser
Your first ICT consultation is free and carries no obligation — on WhatsApp, by phone or at our Kampala office.
3
Identify a suitable Starlink solution
The kit, the plan and the way to acquire it: in your own name with our guidance, or as a managed DishNet plan.
4
Get guidance on acquisition and deployment
Equipment, ordering, the registration steps and an installation plan, with a written quotation.
5
Installation, configuration and support
Arranged by DishNet where available: mounting, Wi-Fi setup, testing, and WhatsApp support seven days a week.
Starlink controls registration approval, KYC verification and service activation; none of them is guaranteed. We check your address before you pay, and your written quotation confirms the total.
Starlink equipment and plans
Which Starlink might suit you?
Three kits, each for a different kind of use. Tell us how many people will use it and where in Uganda — we will recommend one and explain why.
1
The equipment
Buy the kit through DishNet — as a package with delivery, mounting, alignment and Wi-Fi setup, or kit-only on request.
2
The service
Your own Starlink subscription, registered in your name with our guidance — or a managed DishNet plan. Compare the two.
PortableProduct photo
Starlink Mini
Fits in a backpack, powers from USB-C or a solar bank.
Field teams and staff on the move
Lodges, small sites and temporary locations
Ask us whether it suits the number of people who will connect
Starlink can be used where the dish has a clear view of the sky, but Starlink controls service availability, eligibility, registration approval, KYC verification and activation.
Where Starlink's network is busy it can limit new sign-ups, so we check your address before you pay. Prices change: your written quotation confirms the total.
Solutions by industry
Connectivity advice for the way you work
Every organisation faces different connectivity challenges. Choose yours to see how we approach it.
Homes and individual users
The challenge
Patchy mobile data where you live, and a household that needs streaming, school work and video calls at the same time.
How DishNet helps
We help you choose the kit and plan, explain what ordering and verification ask of you, check your address before you pay, and set up Wi-Fi that reaches the rooms you use.
Tell us your town and how many people will use the connection.
Downtime costs sales. Teams depend on video calls and cloud systems, and some need a public IP for CCTV or remote access.
How DishNet helps
A requirements review, the right kit and plan — including Business plans with priority data and a public IP — office Wi-Fi design and support afterwards.
Book your free consultation; for several sites we plan them together.
Field offices far from town, unreliable grid power, and procurement rules that call for clear, documented quotations.
How DishNet helps
A site-by-site assessment, fixed or portable kits, advice on solar power, written quotations, installation coordinated across regions, and ongoing support.
Send us your sites and requirements; we reply with the options.
Schools, universities and educational institutions
The challenge
Many users at once, campuses spread across buildings, and budgets that have to be planned a term or a year ahead.
How DishNet helps
Planning around the number of learners and staff, campus Wi-Fi design with separate networks for staff and guests where needed, and a written quotation you can budget for.
Tell us about your campus and how it will use the connection.
Sites move, run for months rather than years, and start before any infrastructure arrives.
How DishNet helps
Portable or temporary setups such as Starlink Mini, power planning, and moves planned in advance — Starlink service is registered to an address, so we check capacity at the new site and update it before you move.
Tell us where the site is and how long it will run.
You want to offer connectivity in your area, but need training, technical backup and a partner who can help with complex jobs.
How DishNet helps
A partnership, subject to DishNet review and a written agreement, can include training to survey, install and troubleshoot to DishNet's standard, and technical backup from our engineers.
Installing equipment for customers also needs any licence the Uganda Communications Commission requires.
We start with your free consultation: where and how you will use the connection, how many people, and on what power. We then help you choose the kit and plan, explain the two ways to get Starlink with DishNet — registering in your own name with our guidance, or a managed DishNet plan — and plan the installation with a written quotation.
Starlink controls registration approval, KYC verification and activation.
Can I register Starlink in my own name?
Yes. We help you understand and navigate Starlink's registration: what it asks for, how to prepare the information, and how to complete each step correctly. The Starlink account is then yours, under Starlink's own terms, and we can still install and support the equipment.
Starlink controls registration approval, KYC verification and activation. We cannot promise approval, or speed it up.
What is a managed DishNet Starlink plan?
A DishNet plan is our own managed service. Your contract for the service is with DishNet, not with Starlink, and the Starlink account that serves your kit is registered and managed by DishNet on your behalf. You get one local bill, payable by Airtel Money, bank transfer or cash, and installation and support from one team.
You can ask us to transfer the account to you; any minimum period, fee and processing time is confirmed in writing first, and transfers follow Starlink's rules. Managed plans are subject to applicable requirements, including Starlink's terms. A DishNet plan is a DishNet service, not a Starlink product.
What if my own-name registration is restricted?
Only Starlink can change its decision. We can help you understand the message you received, check whether information was missing or entered incorrectly, and help you contact Starlink's support.
We do not automatically offer — or refuse — a managed DishNet plan in this situation. Each case is reviewed individually, subject to Starlink's terms, requirements and approvals. We will never help anyone bypass verification, registration restrictions or eligibility checks.
Which Starlink kit suits my requirements?
It depends on where you will use it, how many people will connect, and your power. Mini is compact and portable; Standard suits homes, offices and other fixed sites; High Performance is for banks, NGOs and other institutions. Try the kit guide for a starting point, then confirm it in your free consultation.
Is Starlink available at my location?
Starlink can be used where the dish has a clear view of the sky. Where Starlink's network is busy it can limit new sign-ups, so we check your address before you pay. Coverage and capacity are Starlink's: we cannot promise service where Starlink does not offer it.
How do I request installation or technical support?
A new installation: book your free consultation, and we plan the installation with you and confirm it in a written quotation. In Kampala and major cities we usually install within 1–3 working days of payment; upcountry, we schedule delivery and installation together, typically within a week. The installation itself usually takes 2–4 hours.
Support for an existing service: message us on WhatsApp — WhatsApp support is available seven days a week — with your name and what is happening. We fix what we can remotely first, and arrange a technician visit where needed and available. You can also check invoices and payments in the customer portal.
How do I arrange my free consultation?
Message us on WhatsApp, call +256 705 993 348, email info@dishnetafrica.com, or use the form on this page, which prepares a WhatsApp message for you to send. Your first ICT consultation is free and carries no obligation.
Businesses and NGOs do not need one before buying, but we recommend it: it covers your users, sites, power, budget and how much downtime you can accept, and gives you a written quotation for your procurement process.
Do I need Starlink for DishNet's CCTV or network security?
No. CCTV and network security are a separate DishNet service. They are not Starlink products, and you do not need Starlink to use them. See CCTV and network security.
